An 18-year-old bride named Saudat Jibril has been arrested in the Farawa Quarters of Kano State after she allegedly killed her husband, Salisu Idris, just nine days after their wedding.

The details of this sad event are still unclear, but the Kano State Police have confirmed that Jibril is facing charges for culpable homicide.

Police spokesperson Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa stated that she is accused of using a sharp knife to fatally wound 30-year-old Idris. He added that as soon as the report came in, Commissioner of Police CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori sent a team of detectives to the scene. Idris was taken to Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, where he was declared dead by the medical team. Jibril is currently in custody at the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Homicide Section, and will soon appear in court to face the charges of culpable homicide.

The Commissioner of Police, Kiyawa, stated that the Command will not accept any acts of violence or criminal behavior within the State. He reassures the community of their dedication to conducting comprehensive investigations to ensure that justice prevails.

The Kano State Police Command also calls on the public to stay alert and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station using their emergency contact numbers. This comes in light of a recent case involving 16-year-old Rahma Hussein, who tragically stabbed her husband to death in the Darmanawa area of Tarauni local government in Kano, just days after their wedding. After serving seven years for her crime, she was granted pardon and released from prison.
