The Arewa for Asiwaju (A4A), a political pressure group, said on Tuesday in Abuja, that it will mobilise Nigerians from across the federation to vote for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
Mr Edwin Olofu, Head of Media Relations of the group, which consists of prominent northern political leaders, former governors, serving and former senators, and key stakeholders, said this in a statement.
He said that the group, conceived as the organised northern vanguard for the re-election of Tinubu, would operate a structured organogram spanning the 19 Northern States and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
He said the group, which would be led by a 14-member Board of Trustees (BOT), would operate elaborate national and zonal leadership structures.
Olofu added that the group would bring together tested political figures with deep grassroots networks across the North-West, North-East, and North-Central.
The BOT, according to the group’s spokesman, is chaired by former Kano State Governor and ex-Education Minister, Sen. Ibrahim Shekarau.
He said that former Yobe Governor and current Minister of Police Affairs, Sen. Ibrahim Geidam, and former Plateau Governor and Senator representing Plateau South, Mr Simon Lalong, would serve as the group’s vice-chairmen.
Other members of the BOT, he said, are Alh. Ibrahim Masari, Sen. Joshua Dariye, Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (rtd), Sen. Aliyu Wamakko, Isa Yuguda, Jolly Nyame, Sen. Atiku Bagudu, and Yahaya Bello, among others.
He added that Alh. Mohammed Abubakar would serve as the BOT’s Secretary, to be assisted by Abubakar Gambo, while Badaru Abubakar would lead its operations as well as serve as its Director-General.
“He will drive the overall campaign strategy, co-ordinate all 19 northern states and the FCT chapters, and also oversee various directorates at the national headquarters.
“He will be supported by three Deputy National Coordinators: Ibrahim Shema (North-West), Yahaya Bello (North-Central), and Abdulrazaq Namdas (North-East).
“Directors appointed to man various arms of the operations include: Dr Bala Wunti (Director) Finance and Resource Mobilisation with Abdulrahman Leme as his deputy.
“Operations and Logistics will be headed by Sen. Tijjani Kaura; Abdulaziz Abdulaziz will serve as the Director of Communications and Media Strategy with Jibrin Baba Ndace as Deputy,”Olofu said.
He added that to drive the grassroots architecture, state coordinators had been nominated across the 19 northern states and the FCT.
He said that a formal unveiling of the group would be done in Abuja in the coming days, with zonal and state inauguration.
