29-year-old mother slaughtered on her farm in Ogun

On Wednesday, the tranquil farming community of Ilewo Orile in Abeokuta North, Ogun State, was plunged into mourning following the barbaric murder of Mrs. Gloria Peter Ajine, a 29-year-old mother of one while she was harvesting vegetables on her farm.
Gloria, described by her family as a hardworking and devoted woman, had gone to her farm that afternoon to gather vegetables in preparation for the market day on 16 January.

She never returned home, which was a tragic outcome.
Her grieving husband, Mr Peter Ajine, recounted the harrowing discovery with tears in his eyes. “I still cannot believe she’s gone. Gloria was the light of our family,” he said.

To provide food for our family, our son, and the market, she set off for the farm. Who would do this to her? She didn’t deserve to die like this. My heart is shattered.”
The family revealed that Gloria was found hours later on her farm, lying lifeless in a pool of blood. The assailants, who remain unidentified, had attacked her in what they described as a “cold-blooded manner.”

While Gloria was born into the Ochong family in Adum East Ito, Obi Local Government Area, Benue State, she married into the Ajine family of Abofutu Ikponyire, also in Benue State. Her husband and their young child had relocated to Ogun State to build a better life.

Her husband, speaking for the family, described the murder as “an unimaginable act of cruelty that has left a gap in our lives.””

Gloria was the type of person who would brighten any space, he remarked. She worked hard, loved her family, and had big goals for them. The idea that she passed away in such a horrifying manner is intolerable.

The family has urged Ogun State law enforcement to conduct a thorough investigation into the crime and to bring the murderers to justice.

Peter cried out to the authorities while carrying their one-year-old child.
“My best friend, my partner, and my wife is gone. His mother has passed away, our son said, sobbing.
We’re urging the police, the administration, and everyone else to assist us in identifying the perpetrators. This cannot be how Gloria’s life ends; justice must be served.
He went on, “I must know why. For what reason would someone do this? Her adversaries were nonexistent. Dedicated to her family, she was a decent woman. My joy has been stolen, and I will not stop until justice is served.

The tragedy has shocked the people of Ilewo Orile, who have described it as an unusual and horrific crime in their quiet neighborhood.
Gloria’s neighbors praised her generosity and hard work in supporting her family.
“This is tragic,” remarked neighbor Mrs. Rukayat Oladimeji. Gloria never stopped smiling and working hard. It’s unbelievable that someone would end her life in this manner.

Mr. Gbenga Adewale, another community member, continued, “We are terrified. Anyone may be affected if this could happen to her. To protect everyone in this neighborhood, the police must move quickly.
A combined statement condemning the incident and calling for immediate action was released by the Ajine and Ochong families.
The sadness of this murder affects not just our family but also society at large. The statement said, “We urge the Ogun State Police Command to step up their investigation into this case and make sure the murderers are held accountable.”

The family also urged the government and human rights groups to assist them in their pursuit of justice, emphasizing that violent crimes of this nature must not go unpunished.
