The Nigeria Police Force rescued six law students who were kidnapped while traveling from Anambra to Adamawa state on July 26, 2025.

These students are from the Yola campus of the Nigerian Law School. They were reportedly on their way back to campus after completing their mandatory court externships, getting ready for classes that are set to start again on Monday, July 28.

The students – Rev. Ernest Okafor, Ogbuka Fabian, Nwamma Philip, Okechukwu Obadiegwu, Obalem Emmanuel, and Obiorah David – were riding in a commercial vehicle run by AJ Dan Pullo Transport Company, which is located in Onitsha, Anambra state.

Blueprint reports that the kidnapping took place late Saturday in an area known for armed banditry and frequent abductions.

In a statement released on Friday by Udeme Edet, the Public Relations Officer of the Benue Police Command, it was stated, “the students were found and safely released early this morning, August 1, 2025. They have since been reunited with their families.”

The police didn’t disclosed further details regarding the circumstances of the rescue, but expressed gratitude for public cooperation and support throughout the effort.
