The Abia Government has expressed its worries about the rising number of cult-related problems in the state, calling this situation both dangerous and unacceptable.
During a press conference with reporters at the Government House in Umuahia on Monday, the Commissioner for Information, Mr. Okey Kanu, shared this news after the State Executive Council meeting.
Kanu mentioned that security agencies have been told to step up their efforts against cult groups, whose actions threaten the peace and safety of law-abiding citizens.
He emphasized the current administration’s commitment to providing a safe environment for all residents, stating that the government will do everything possible to eliminate cult violence from Abia.
Regarding education, Kanu revealed that the government has started improvements to the facilities at the Abia State College of Education Technical Arochukwu (ASCETA).
He commended the renovation progress at ASCETA as impressive.
He detailed the major projects currently being rebuilt, which include the college library, vocational education block, student hostels, the School of Technical Education, and the internal road systems across the campus.
According to him, these upgrades are aimed at improving the institution learning environment and are also part of the preparations for the college’s forthcoming re-acquisition exercise.
Kanu said that the administration is committed to improving schools across the state as part of its development agenda.
