The newly appointed National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda has promised that the party will keep its doors wide open for Nigerians who find the policies, programmes and principles of APC attractive enough to join the party.
Prof Yilwatda spoke when he met with APC correspondents at the Media Centre on Thursday shortly after concluding his first meeting with members of the party National Working Committee, N̈WC.
According to him, the progressive attitude and programmes of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu have continued to attract more defectors into the party.
“Today is historic for the APC and this party is like a vehicle and more people are coming in. We are the drivers. Our doors are still open and we are still expecting more people.
He said: “We are progressive in nature and it is the progressive leadership of this party that has attracted many people into the APC. The progressive leadership has made many governors, senators, House of Representatives members, chairmen of local governments and most people in the society who have seen the APC as the best option for this nation.
“Our doors are still open. We have 22 governors and still counting, we have 70 senators out of 109 and still counting and our doors are still open. We have almost a majority of the House of Representatives members and our doors are still open.”
Commenting briefly on the social safety investment programmes of the Tinubu administration, he noted that millions of Nigerians have been covered within six months of the government and concluded by promising to improve on the achievements of former APC National Chairmen especially in making the party more acceptable to Nigerians nationwide.
