According to reports, Michail Antonio, a forward for West Ham United, may never play football again after undergoing surgery after being involved in a horrific automobile accident on Saturday.

After the terrible tragedy that happened in Theydon Bois, Essex, over the weekend, the 34-year-old had surgery on Sunday to treat a fractured lower limb. Witnesses are being urged to come forward with any information or event data recorder as Essex police continue their investigation into the incident.

According to reports, Antonio might be sidelined for up to a year as he recovers from the incident, with his ex-wife by his side in the hospital.
However, there are concerns that the Jamaica international may never feature in the Premier League again for the Hammers.

Following his involvement in a terrifying vehicle accident over the weekend, presenter Jim White has provided an update on Antonio’s health.
Speaking on talk SPORT, White stated: “I was informed this morning that he is still in a stable state in the hospital, with the full support of the West Ham medical staff and the NHS.”

“He has suffered severe injury to one of his legs, and it is anticipated that his recovery will take a long time. It will be at least a year before it is known if he will be able to play football going forward. “Mikel, I was informed this morning, is a warrior. Due to his status as a top-tier football player, he is in excellent physical shape, which could be beneficial to him and potentially advantageous for his recovery.

On Sunday, West Ham revealed that Antonio would have surgery to fix the injuries he received in the vehicle accident.

West Ham United confirmed in a statement that Michail Antonio had surgery for a fractured lower limb after a car accident on Saturday afternoon. In the days ahead, Michail will remain under hospital observation.

“The entire football community has been incredibly supportive since yesterday’s news, and everyone at the club wishes Michail a speedy recovery. They also want to thank the emergency services and first responders who helped Michail in the immediate aftermath of the incident, as well as the medical team who are still helping him recover.”

Antonio, who has scored 68 goals in 268 Premier League games, is West Ham’s all-time leading scorer. He joined the East London club from Nottingham Forest in 2015, and he played a part in the 2022–2023 UEFA Conference League winning squad.

This season, the veteran attacker played 15 games for Julen Lopetegui team, scoring one.
He participated in a session on Friday at their Rush Green training camp preparatory to their Premier League clash with Wolves today, but the mishap ruined his ambitions of playing at the London Stadium.
However, he is expected to face an extended stay on the sidelines as he seeks to defy predictions that he may have to retire from football prematurely.
