expresses that anyone in breach would face quick resolution and further Legal actions.

The Lagos State Government, through the State Safety Commission, has issued a resolute warning to all nightclubs in the state: overcrowding will not be tolerated under any circumstances. This practice presents significant safety risks, including serious fire hazards.

Mr. Lanre Mojola, the Director General/CEO of the commission, made this announcement on Wednesday, emphasizing the urgent need for action in light of the disturbing trend of overcrowding in various clubs and lounges across the city.

While acknowledging the vibrant nightlife and the economic advantages it offers, Mojola firmly stressed the necessity of adhering to the occupancy limits authorized by the commission. The safety of patrons, staff, and the general public is non-negotiable.

According to him, no nightclub should tolerate overcrowding that creates substantial safety risks, including fire threats caused by smoking in public spaces, which could lead to “compromised emergency exits and an increased likelihood of accidents.”

All owners and operators of hospitality venues in Lagos are hereby urged to comply strictly with the safety measures and occupancy limits established by the Lagos State Safety Commission. Ignoring these regulations jeopardizes lives and will not be overlooked.

The commission is already conducting rigorous inspections to enforce compliance, and any establishment found in violation of these safety requirements will face immediate closure and potential legal consequences.

Citizens are encouraged to report any non-compliance to the Commission at 07000SAFETY. The commission appreciates the ongoing cooperation of stakeholders in maintaining a safe and enjoyable environment, and together we must ensure that Lagos remains safe and vibrant.
