In a tragic incident in Asa Umudim, Osisioma Ngwa Local Government Area of Abia State, a man set his house on fire which claimed the life of one of his daughters. His wife and two other children are currently fighting for their lives in the hospital. This devastating incident occured in the early hours of Saturday, May 17, 2025, allegedly sparked by the man’s jealousy over his wife’s frequent phone calls, which he believed were from her lovers. He reportedly confronted her about the calls, suspecting her of infidelity.

Local sources said that the suspect poured a flammable liquid on his family and then set it on fire. Authorities haven’t made any official comments yet, but the event has deeply affected the community, leaving residents feeling sad and angry. Villagers were ready to take matters into their own hands and attack the suspect when the police showed up and took him into custody.

DSP Maureen Chinaka, a spokesperson for the Abia State Police Command, confirmed that an investigation is ongoing. In the meantime, the daughter’s body has been taken to the mortuary.
