Alejandro Garnacho joins Chelsea from Man United in £40m deal

Table of Content

Chelsea Football Club has officially announced the signing of Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United, marking a significant transfer in the current football season. The talented winger joins the Blues for a fixed fee of £40 million ($54 million), according to sources familiar with the deal. At just 21 years old, Garnacho’s departure from Manchester United comes after he recently fell out of favor under the management of Ruben Amorim.

Before any official announcements were made by the clubs, Garnacho was seen in the stands during Chelsea’s home match against Fulham, which Chelsea won 2-0. His appearance led fans to speculate about a possible transfer.

Later that same day, Chelsea confirmed that the transfer was official, announcing that Garnacho had signed a contract that will keep him with the team until the summer of 2032. His addition brings youthful energy and strength to Chelsea’s lineup as the team seeks to improve its attacking options for the upcoming season.

“This is an incredible moment for me and my family as we join this amazing club,” Garnacho expressed. “I can’t wait to get started. I watched the Club World Cup, and being part of the world champions is really special — we are the best team in the world! Being here is fantastic, and I feel very happy.”

Garnacho, who had shown his frustration with Amorim after not playing in United’s Europa League final against Tottenham in May, had been practicing apart from the main team at Carrington while they figured out his future.

The Argentina international has scored 16 goals in 93 Premier League appearances and is set to become another attacking option for Enzo Maresca at Stamford Bridge.
