The Young Progressive Party (YPP) in Anambra has announced its plan to boost economic activities in the state if they win the governorship election on November 8. Mr. Uzu Okagbue, the party’s Deputy Governorship candidate, shared this vision during events held in the Umudioka and Ogidi communities.

At the recent Mkpikpa and Nwafor cultural festivals, Okagbue highlighted the importance of these celebrations as vital parts of the communities’ traditions. He acknowledged the serious issues currently facing Anambra, especially problems with safety that have negatively affected the local economy and daily life.

Okagbue noticed that although the community showed strong cultural pride, there were clear signs of worry among residents, such as smaller gatherings and shorter celebrations. He linked these changes to ongoing safety concerns. He assured the people that if the YPP is elected on November 8, addressing these security problems would be their top priority, aiming to improve life and economic activities in Anambra.

He condemned the current security challenges that have left many people feeling hopeless. He mentioned the frightening increase in armed robbery, kidnappings for money, violence from gangs, and other serious threats that have harmed the community’s safety and well-being.

In his comments, he made it clear that both he and Mr. Paul Chukwuma are not just interested in politics for the sake of it; they want to create leadership that truly matters and makes a difference. “Our main goal is to bring back safety in Anambra—not just to get attention, but to help our communities live without fear,” he said.

The Deputy governorship candidate pointed out that even though the state has a lot of potential for growth, it is being held back by poor leadership. “We need to change our idea of what leadership means here. We must focus on making our state safe again. Only then can we explore all the cultural, economic, and human opportunities that this great state has to offer.

“The night may feel long, but a brighter day is coming. A new beginning is not just a dream; it is almost here. Real, shared happiness is ahead of us,” he said with strong belief.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that before the start of “Operation Udogachi,” the state faced serious security issues, including armed robberies, kidnappings, ritual killings, and gang conflicts that put the safety of its communities at risk.
