Ange Postecoglou responds to Arsene Wenger concerning the Europa League

Table of Content

Tottenham Hotspur’s manager, Ange Postecoglou, has responded firmly to Arsene Wenger’s claim that the Europa League champion should not automatically earn a spot in the Champions League.

The Spurs are ahead in their semifinal match against Bodo/Glimt with a score of 3-1, putting them in a great position to qualify for the Europa league final.

Meanwhile, Manchester United is also on track to advance after a decisive 3-0 victory over Athletic Club in their first leg. Wenger’s comments suggested that winning the Europa League shouldn’t guarantee Champions League qualification.

Postecoglou said, ‘These are the rules. Why was this not an issue before? Last year, coming in fifth didn’t guarantee a spot, but this year it does.

Spurs seem to provoke strong reactions; people want to undermine them at every turn. I hold Arsene in high regard as a football legend, but this is Spurs we’re talking about. They thrive on it, and so do we. Let’s embrace the challenge.’ Spurs will head to Norway for the second leg of their semifinal on Thursday, while United will face Athletic at Old Trafford.
