The kidnapped senior Anglican cleric, Most Rev. Prof. Godwin Okpala, has been successfully freed after being held captive for a month. Archbishop Okpala was released alongside his driver, and the news of their liberation was confirmed by the clergyman himself through a heartfelt post on his Facebook page early Thursday morning. In his message, he simply expressed his gratitude with the words, “Praise the Lord!”

This announcement was met with an outpouring of joy and relief from the community, as hundreds of reactions flooded in, with many people thanking God for Archbishop Okpala’s safe return.

Archbishop Okpala, who is a retired Archbishop of the Niger Province and the Bishop of Nnewi, was abducted while traveling to Umuchu, a local community in Anambra State, to attend a burial ceremony. His disappearance sent shockwaves through the Anglican Communion and raised concerns about security and safety in the region.
