Argentina beat England 2-1 to set up World Cup final against Spain

Argentina came from behind to beat England 2-1 in a thrilling World Cup semi-final played at the Atlanta Stadium on Wednesday.

The South Americans edged the early stages of the encounter, but neither team was able to register a shot on target in a tense first half.

Lionel Scaloni’s side then searched desperately for an equaliser, forcing Jordan Pickford into three spectacular saves in the second half.

Argentina finally got their deserved equaliser in the 85th minute when Enzo Fernández’s brilliant 20-yard strike beat Pickford in the England goal.

They capped off the remarkable comeback deep into the match after Lionel Messi drove down the right and sent in a brilliant ball for Lautaro Martínez to head home.

Following the hard-fought victory, Argentina will now face Spain in the final at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
