Aston Villa claim victory thanks to Morgan Rogers, ensuring Man City hit a new low under pep Guardiola as a manager.

Table of Content

Jhon Duran and former City attacker Morgan Rogers scored to help Aston Villa overcome Manchester City 2-1 in the Premier League on Saturday.
Villa leapfrogged City into fifth place in the Premier League rankings, while Pep Guardiola’s shell-shocked holders plummeted provisionally to sixth — and might slide as low as ninth by the end of the weekend—with their ninth loss in 12 games across all competitions.

Villa nearly scored just 20 seconds before the game’s start, but Duran put the home side ahead in the 16th minute when Youri Tielemans played a magnificent through ball to Rogers, whose unselfish pass found Duran free to fire home. Duran, a former Villa super-sub, began his third league game in a row and scored in all three.
Villa Park erupted again in the 65th minute, when Rogers latched on to a ball from captain John McGinn and scored with a low powerful strike, leaving Guardiola to shake his head in frustration.

After Villa’s Lucas Digne made a mistake, Phil Foden scored in extra time to get City back in the game.
