Bishop Shina Olaribigbe, the founder of Rapture Empowerment International in Osogbo, Osun State, was tragically stabbed to death. The incident occurred early Thursday morning while he was trying to help a couple resolve a fight.
The couple’s names haven’t been released, but it is known that the wife worked as an interpreter at Olaribigbe’s church, which is located in the BCGA area of Osogbo. Although they were not officially divorced, they frequently argued and had been living separately.
Olaribigbe had gone to visit the wife, who had been feeling unwell. On that fateful morning, the husband showed up at the house and found the pastor there. This made him very angry, leading to a confrontation. During the argument, he allegedly took a knife and stabbed Olaribigbe in the chest, resulting in the pastor’s death on the spot.
Both the husband and wife have since been arrested and are in custody at the Dugbe Police Division in Osogbo. The body of Bishop Olaribigbe has been taken to the morgue at the University of Osun Teaching Hospital.
Osun State Police spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, confirmed the details, stating that the couple had been living apart despite not being legally separated. She mentioned that the pastor had been trying to help them with their issues, and it seemed the husband suspected that Olaribigbe was involved with his wife.
