The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has issued a warning about fraudsters who claim to have received award letters for construction contracts and special financial interventions on behalf of the bank.
In a statement released on Monday, Mrs. Hakama Sidi Ali, the Acting Director of Corporate Communications for the CBN, urged the public to disregard these fraudsters attempting to deceive them.
She stated, “The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) wants to alert members of the public about individuals falsely claiming to have received award letters for contracts related to construction works and special financial interventions on the bank’s behalf.
“We want to clarify that these claims are false. These individuals are solely motivated by the desire to defraud unsuspecting Nigerians. Any such assertions should be ignored.
“The bank also reiterates that, in line with its current management focus, it has discontinued direct development interventions and special project funding. Furthermore, the CBN has not authorized any public notices regarding such interventions on social media platforms or in any other news outlets,” she added..
Sidi Ali reaffirmed CBN’s committed to its core mandate of ensuring monetary and price stability, and a sound and efficient financial system in Nigeria.
She urged the public to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities or publications to the relevant law enforcement agencies
