Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya extended heartfelt condolences to the Christian community following an unfortunate incident involving youths during the Gombe Christmas parade. On Wednesday, he welcomed members of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) to the Government House as part of their Christmas homage.
During this significant occasion, Governor Inuwa Yahaya congratulated everyone on Christmas and urged the youth, in particular, to seize this festive time to foster peace and unity while steering clear of social miasmas. He emphasized that Christmas is a time for joy, reflection, and the embodiment of Jesus Christ’s teachings.
“We come from diverse backgrounds—different colors, tribes, faiths, and nations. Let us view our diversity as a strength. We must support one another, live in harmony, and work together to enhance the progress of our state and country,” he remarked.
Addressing the recent distressing accident, the Governor expressed his sorrow and deep concern for the injured Christian youths, emphasizing that the incident is indeed regrettable. He reassured victims and their families of the government’s unwavering support during this challenging time.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with those injured and their families, as well as the entire Christian community. As your Governor, I pledge to ensure that all necessary medical aid reaches the victims. We will hold responsible parties accountable and take decisive action against any negligence found in this incident. The safety and well-being of our citizens will always be our foremost priority,” he asserted.
Reverend Alphonsus Shinga, Chairman of CAN, acknowledged the governor’s prompt actions regarding the unfortunate accident involving a Sharon vehicle, which resulted in injuries to many. He highlighted their visit as a means to share in the joy of the season and called for continued peace, unity, and prosperity for both Gombe State and Nigeria.
Special prayers were offered for the peace and progress of Gombe State and the nation at large. To commemorate the occasion, the delegation presented the governor with a special Christmas gift, celebrating the spirit of the season.
