The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has reaffirmed its dedication to safeguarding essential national assets, as well as the lives and properties of citizens, in observance of International Civil Defence Day. Mr. Nuhu Dansadau, the Commandant of the NSCDC Kaduna State Command, expressed this commitment during a road walk held on Saturday in Kaduna to commemorate the occasion. He stated.

“This day is set aside to acknowledge the vital role played by the NSCDC in ensuring the safety and security of the populace. The organization was founded in 1990 by the International Civil Defence Organization and is celebrated annually on March 1st. “Security is a fundamental necessity in any society; without it, development, peace, and prosperity cannot flourish. As members of the NSCDC, we bear the responsibility of protecting critical infrastructure, deterring criminal activities, and responding to emergencies. “Throughout the years, we have encountered various security challenges, including vandalism, banditry, illegal mining, and communal conflicts.”

Dansadau emphasized that through intelligence gathering, community engagement, and strategic alliances, the command has made notable advancements in addressing various threats. “I would like to take this opportunity to commend the unwavering commitment of our officers and personnel who diligently work around the clock to ensure the safety of our communities. Your sacrifices and courage are truly recognized.” He encouraged all officers to reaffirm their commitment to the fundamental values of integrity, vigilance, and service. “The trust that the public places in us is founded on our dedication to our duties, and we must persist in maintaining the highest levels of professionalism.” “Let us enhance our cooperation with other security agencies, traditional leaders, and community representatives, as security is a shared responsibility,” Dansadau stated. He noted that security is not solely the duty of law enforcement agencies; it necessitates the active involvement of all members of the community. Dansadau urged, “Report any suspicious activities, adhere to security advisories, and collaborate with us to foster a safer society.”

The commandant expressed gratitude for the support provided by the Kaduna State Government, as well as for the visionary leadership and dedication of the Commandant-General, Dr. Ahmed Audi, in enhancing the capabilities of the corps.
