Patricia Masithela, a 27-year-old Nigerian woman, was sadly killed after being mauled by a gang of hungry dogs in Latina, Italy.
Late Monday night, Patricia was visiting a male acquaintance at his deserted villa in the Lazio region when the incident happened.
Her cries echoed into the night, alerting neighbours about the vicious assault.
According to reports, Patricia, who had just come to Lazio from Nigeria, went to the house without realizing her buddy wasn’t there.
After the incident, she was found laying in a pool of blood, severely wounded throughout her body.
The rest of the pack fled following the gunfire, but police stepped in and “shooted two of the dogs to allow emergency responders to access the scene.”
Patricia was treated immediately by emergency personnel and taken to Santa Maria Goretti Hospital, but she died as a result of her serious injuries and blood loss.
Despite their best attempts to save her, she passed away from serious bite wounds and massive bleeding.
A loving mother of a five-year-old girl, Patricia has left her friends and family in unimaginable grief.
According to information obtained, local officials are already conducting investigations into the incident to ascertain how the allegedly starving dogs got to be in the region.
However, the incident has spurred conversations about public safety and stray animals, with locals demanding more stringent regulations to stop similar tragic events.
