The Edo State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Cyril Mathew, has confirmed a tragic road accident that resulted in the loss of two lives in the state. The unfortunate incident took place in the Ikhinero community, located along the Benin-Agbor road.
The Sector Commander provided more details, stating that the accident involved three vehicles and occurred around 6:10 PM near the Guinness depot. Preliminary investigations point to over speeding as the primary cause of the crash, which underscores the dangers associated with reckless driving behavior.
In total, six individuals were involved in the accident, comprising two male adults who sadly lost their lives, as well as four female adults who sustained various degrees of injuries. Emergency responders swiftly transported the injured victims to a nearby hospital for immediate medical attention, while the bodies of the deceased were taken to the morgue for further processing.
In light of this accident, Commander Mathew urged all motorists to exercise caution on the roads, especially during the busy festive season. He emphasized the importance of adhering to traffic rules and regulations, avoiding night driving and alcohol consumption, and ensuring that seat belts are securely fastened. By following these safety measures, drivers can help prevent further tragedies and reach their destinations safely during the holiday period.
