The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has detained 10 officers attached to the Lagos Zonal Command over alleged theft of operational items.
This was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday by Dele Oyewale, Head of Media and Publicity for the commission.
Recall that the Commission on Monday sacked 27 officers for fraudulent activities and misconduct
Oyewale said the 10 officers were apprehended last week following directives from the EFCC’s Executive Chairman, Mr. Ola Olukoyede.
According to the statement, the detained officers are under investigation for their inability to account for certain operational items reported missing.
Investigators are reportedly making significant progress, and any officer found culpable will face internal disciplinary procedures in line with the EFCC’s commitment to upholding integrity within its ranks.
The commission reaffirmed its zero-tolerance stance against corruption, emphasizing its determination to remain a model for transparency and accountability in public service.
Meanwhile, the EFCC had on Monday dismissed 27 officers from its workforce.
Their sack is to enforce integrity and rid the anti-graft agency of fraudulent elements.
The officers were dismissed in 2024 for various offences ranging from fraudulent activities and misconduct according to a statement by EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale on Monday. According to him, the officers’ dismissal, followed the recommendation of the Staff Disciplinary Committee of the EFCC, and ratified by the Executive Chairman, Mr. Ola Olukoyede.
