Bournemouth’s well-earned victory at St James’ Park saw Justin Kluivert score a hat-trick, ending Newcastle’s own nine-match winning streak and extending their unbeaten Premier League run to ten games. The Magpies were hoping to set a new club record of ten straight wins in all competitions, but they were not able to duplicate the form that had them predicted to contend for the title.

Kluivert calmly guided Antoine Semenyo’s cutback into the far corner to give Bournemouth a better start and a well-earned lead.

Kluivert completed his treble with a magnificent drive into the far corner after a bad pass from Anthony Gordon, but David Brooks was stopped by a sprawling save by Martin Dubravka.
To the joy of the 1,700 travelling Cherries supporters, Milos Kerkez added more salt to Newcastle’s wounds in additional time by putting a powerful left-footed drive into the far corner.
If Aston Villa loses Saturday’s late game against Arsenal, Bournemouth will finish the day in sixth place—just one point below the fourth-place Magpies.
