Expert Lauds Tinubu’s Ambassadorial Postings, Urges Result-driven Diplomacy

An international development expert, Mr Victor Oluwafemi, has commended President Bola Tinubu for the posting of new ambassadors to strategic foreign missions.

In a statement in Abuja on Friday, Oluwafemi described the posting as “a timely step toward repositioning Nigeria’s diplomacy for measurable national value.”

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Tinubu had approved Amb. Ayodele Oke and Retired Col. Lateef Are as Ambassadors-designate to France and United States of America respectively and Amb. Mohammed Dalhatu as the High Commissioner-designate to United Kingdom.

Oluwafemi, the principal architect of Policy as a Platform (PaaP) and Results as a Service (RaaS), said Nigeria’s missions must now adopt a modern delivery discipline that converts goodwill into outcomes.

He explained that *PaaP* is a structured approach for translating national priorities into clear mission workflows and service standards, while *RaaS* is a quarterly scorecard system for tracking results.

According to him, it includes results such as partnerships secured, investment leads progressed, trade outcomes and improvements in diaspora and consular service delivery.

“Diplomacy must be more than protocol. It must translate into investment pipelines, trade opportunities, diaspora confidence and a reputation lift that is backed by delivery,” Oluwafemi said.

The expert urged the newly-appointed envoys to adopt a clear three-point agenda that can be applied across Washington, London and Paris.

He particularly recommended a Nigeria–US Diaspora Prosperity Conference and Deal Room in Washington, DC to convert goodwill into bankable pipelines and sustained investment momentum.

According to him, Washington remains Nigeria’s most strategic theatre for investment mobilisation and diaspora confidence building.

He also suggested the establishment of an embassy-convened diaspora and investment council, reduced fragmentation and creation of a permanent platform for mobilisation as Nigeria institutionalised engagements.

Oluwafemi equally recommended an annual flagship investment and diaspora conference with a deal room that would showcase vetted opportunities, match partners and track post-event progress.

He said that every mission should publish a quarterly mission results scorecard under the RaaS discipline.

“Transparent reporting will strengthen credibility and distinguish Nigeria’s diplomacy as outcomes-led.

“Washington should become the benchmark mission by institutionalising PaaP-style delivery workflows and RaaS scorecard reporting, while London and Paris drive the same discipline through their own strategic corridors,” the expert added.
