The Forum of Nigerian Professionals in Politics (FNPP) has raised fresh concerns about what it describes as a carefully orchestrated plot by certain political figures to destabilize President Bola Tinubu’s administration. This strategy involves infiltrating his inner circle and disseminating falsehoods and carefully crafted misinformation aimed at his loyal supporters.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the FNPP, a coalition of professionals and business leaders from diverse sectors across Nigeria, revealed that it has gathered credible intelligence pointing to a coordinated effort by self-serving politicians working together to create division within the highest levels of government.
The forum, led by its national coordinator, Okey Ezenwa, noted that this isn’t the first time there have been efforts to block the administration’s progress. Ezenwa noted that on February 4, 2024, the FNPP revealed a scheme aimed at undermining the president by targeting his Chief of Staff, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila.
He mentioned that the FNPP’s intervention successfully prevented the destabilization attempt, allowing the presidency to stay committed to its goals of economic reform, security, and national development.
The forum’s chairman noted that the recent conspiracy seems to follow a well-known pattern. “The aim is to infiltrate the presidency with hidden agents, spread false narratives, and erode the trust between President Tinubu and his key supporters—especially in areas crucial for national unity and electoral stability.
“The main target is influential APC governors, particularly in the North West and South East. The Coalition’s operatives believe that the opposition cannot effectively challenge President Tinubu in these regions unless they can create a divide between Governors Sani and Uzodimma and the President, fully aware of their critical roles in securing support for the Tinubu administration in these key areas.
“The governors of Kaduna and Imo State have become primary targets for these disruptive elements, aiming to weaken their influence and reduce their capacity to garner support for President Tinubu’s vision of building structured and lasting legacies that will promote sustainable growth for our nation.
The calm atmosphere in Kaduna State, which is now free from religious conflicts, is a big step forward compared to how things used to be, and it’s important to keep it that way. Also, we should recognize and keep backing the Imo State governor’s work to gain strong support from the South East for the current government.
Governor Uzodinma has consistently placed the challenges of the South East at the forefront of his agenda, leveraging his over 30 years of political experience to establish bipartisan initiatives that foster a deeper understanding among South East stakeholders regarding the importance of backing President Tinubu’s administration. In light of this, we call on the President to nurture these constructive relationships and remain undeterred by those who seek to sow discord.
Reaffirming its commitment to national stability, the FNPP urged President Tinubu to stay focused and not be swayed by misleading narratives that could undermine confidence in his leadership. The Forum also called on Nigerians to remain vigilant and united against divisive tactics. “Our nation stands at a crucial crossroads,” Ezenwa emphasized.
“This is a moment for solidarity—not political sabotage. Those who pursue power carelessly must not compromise the future of Nigeria.
