After being announced as Coventry City’s next manager, Frank Lampard is once again in the managerial hot seat.

Since quitting his temporary position at Stamford Bridge at the end of the 2022–2023 season, the former Chelsea and England midfielder has been unemployed. He is now expected to make a comeback to the Championship, where he guided Derby County to the 2019 play-off final.

The highly regarded Mark Robins, who was fired by the club’s owner Doug King earlier this month in a shocking move that infuriated Sky Blues supporters and was called “the stupidest decision of all time,” will be replaced by Lampard.

“I am delighted that Frank Lampard has agreed to join our club as head coach,” King said, expressing his appreciation for Lampard’s selection. After spending some time in the Championship, Frank is aware of the requirements for success in this league.

His subsequent stints at Chelsea and Everton will guarantee that he brings to our excellent team a comprehensive understanding of what it takes to thrive at the highest level that our club is aiming for.

After a lengthy search, Lampard was eventually hired, and King faced criticism for firing Robins on November 7. On Thursday afternoon, the new boss will be in front of the media with assistant coaches Chris Jones and Joe Edwards.

Saturday’s game against Cardiff at the CBS Arena will be his debut game in charge of Coventry City. The promotion-threatened Burnley defeated the Sky Blues 2-0 on Tuesday night, and they desperately need a change of direction.

They are currently in a dangerous position, just two points above the relegation zone, in 17th place.
