Gov. Ahmed Ododo of Kogi  has reaffirmed his administration’s determination to eliminate criminal activities across the state following a deadly attack on Iluke community in Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area (LGA).

The Governor made the declaration  during a condolence visit to the community on Thursday.

Gunmen had on Wednesday  attacked the area, killing three including a vice principal.

The attack disrupted a West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) sitting at Government Secondary School, Iluke as the gunmen attempted to abduct students during the examination.

However, the  military, local security operatives, vigilantes and hunters successfully repelled the attack, rescuing those already seized by the attackers.

The victims included the vice principal of the school  and a young girl who was struck by a stray bullet.

Contrary to some reports, no student was killed during the incident.

Addressing residents during the visit, Gov. Ododo sympathised with  the families of the victims and assured the people  of his administration’s determination to protect lives and property.

The governor commended the military, other security agencies, local vigilantes and hunters for their bravery and sacrifices.

He described  their intervention as heroic and decisive in preventing what could have been one of the most devastating mass abductions in the state’s history.
