The Unity Advocacy Group (UAG), non-partisan advocacy group, has commended troops of the Armed Forces of Nigeria for their recent operational successes, particularly in the North West and North East.

This is contained in a statement by the Convener of UAG, Ifeanyi Aigbedion, on Tuesday in Abuja.

Aigbedion said the commendation followed the recent killing of no fewer than 80 armed bandits by troops who foiled an attempt by the criminals to infiltrate Kebbi State from the Zamfara border.

He quoted the Special Adviser to the Governor on Communication and Strategy, Abdullahi Zuru, as making the disclosure on Sunday.

According to him, troops of Operation Hadin Kai also neutralised 10 terrorists and recovered arms, ammunition and equipment in recent encounters along the Gamboru–Dikwa–Marte axis of Borno.

“In another operation, four logistics suppliers linked to Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) were eliminated during coordinated ambushes in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno,” he said.

Aigbedion also hailed the appointment of Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede as the new Chief of Defence Staff, describing him as a seasoned officer capable of leading ongoing operations against insurgents and bandits.

“We commend President Bola Tinubu for appointing Lt.-Gen. Oluyede as the new CDS.

“He is well-tested and equal to the task of leading our troops as they continue to deal decisively with agents of darkness across the country,” the group said.

The UAG convener that Oluyede’s tenure as Chief of Army Staff demonstrated a high level of professionalism and commitment to nationals
