In a tragic event yesterday, suspected kidnappers took the lives of a father, his son, and two other people in Kwara state.
Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, the spokesperson for the Kwara State Police Command, shared that this heartbreaking incident happened in the early hours in the Patigi Local Government Area of the state.
In another related event, unknown attackers invaded Mari village, also in Patigi local government, where they reportedly killed a man named Timothy Paul.
Mr. Shola Adewara, the publicity secretary of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the state confirmed the death of Kpotun, who he identified as a party leader in Patigi.
“Indeed, Alh Kpotun was killed by suspected gunmen. “We feel sad about the tragic incident. Adewara said.
Also, the Kwara Central Strategy Team (KCST) has formally confirmed Kpotun’s passing through social media announcement. “It is with profound sorrow that the Kwara Central Strategy Team (KCST) mourns the heartbreaking loss of the Kwara North PDP ward chairman in Patigi and his son, who fell victim to ruthless bandits. As a community built on principles of service, sacrifice, and strategy, we stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Baruten, Kaiama, Edu, Moro, and Patigi.
“We pray for the souls of our departed comrades. May their sacrifices not be in vain. We proclaim safety, divine guidance, and triumph over fear. Kwara North shall rise again!” the group expressed in a statement signed by its president, Olayinka Oladimeji.
The Kwara State Police Command has also confirmed two incidents of violent crime in Patigi during the early hours of June 25, 2025. The command, in a statement signed by its spokesperson, Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, stated: “At about 0130 hours, unknown armed men stormed and attacked Mari and Lile villages via Lade, resulting in the deaths of three individuals: Timothy Paul (male, 35 years) in Mari village, and Alhaji Abdullahi Shehu (male, 51 years) along with his son, Abdullahi Muhammad (male, 22 years) in Lile village. The bodies were confirmed dead by a medical doctor at a hospital.
Investigations have begun to capture those responsible for this despicable act; prosecution will follow afterwards.
