Haaland nets on return as Man City edge Spurs to go 4th

Manchester City striker Erling Haaland became the second player to score at least 20 goals in each of his first three Premier League seasons, netting the winner as the champions defeated Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 on Wednesday to return to the top four.
Haaland, who had missed Sunday’s 2-0 home defeat by Liverpool due to injury, converted Jeremy Doku’s low cross in the 12th minute to put Pep Guardiola’s team ahead.

The Norwegian might have added to his goal as City controlled the first half, with home keeper Guglielmo Vicario making superb stops on him and Doku, while Savinho shot over the crossbar.
City’s profligacy almost cost them as Tottenham controlled the second half, with Wilson Odobert and Mathys Tel missing opportunities and Son Heung-min being denied by Ederson after coming off the bench.

Victory put City to fourth with 47 points from 27 games, while Tottenham in 13th with 33.
