Less than 24 hours after the Vice Chairman of Badagry West Local Council Development Area, Princess Oluremi Nutayi Ajose, passed on, the death of another elected female councillor has been announced in Lagos.
Basirat Oluwakemi Mayabikan, councillor representing Ward F of Somolu Local Government died early Sunday, 21 September, 2025.
Recall that Princess Ajose, daughter of the monarch of Apa and Vice Chairman of Badagry West LCDA died late Saturday, 20 September, 2025.
However, according to sources, Mayabikan died after a very brief illness on Sunday.
“She was hale and hearty this past week. She was with her colleagues when they visited the offices of the management staff of the council.
“The Chairman announced yesterday (Saturday) that she was ill and will be going to visit her.
“I was surprised to hear she is no more this morning,” a staff member of Somolu Local Government who pleaded anonymity disclosed.
Sadly, since the inauguration of the present set of council leadership by the state Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Sunday, 27 July, 2025, Mayabikan is the fourth female elected officer to have died
Three of them: Oluwakemi Rufai from Ibeju-Lekki; Zainab Shotayo from Odiolowo-Ojuwoye LCDA and Mayabikan from Somolu; while the fourth one, Princess Ajose was a Vice Chairman.
