Huawei has unveiled its latest energy storage solution, the LUNA 2000-215 Series, designed to leverage advanced technology to tackle energy challenges.
The Luna 2000-215 incorporates a hybrid energy system that combines liquid and air cooling to enhance efficiency, reduce expenses, and extend the lifespan of the system.
According to Huawei, this system achieves an impressive round-trip efficiency of 91.3 percent, setting a new standard in the industry, while also cutting operational costs (OPEX) by 50 percent. Built to last, the batteries retain over 75 percent of their health after ten years and 70 percent after fifteen years, exceeding typical industry expectations.
At its launch event in Lagos, Cruise Ni, Director of Huawei Digital Power, highlighted the benefits of the Luna 2000-215. He addressed Nigeria’s energy challenges, such as unreliable power supply, high electricity prices, and increasing diesel costs, especially as solar panel prices continue to drop. “This product is crucial for helping businesses save money while encouraging the use of renewable energy,” Ni stated.
Ni predicts significant growth in Africa’s energy sector, estimating a need for 4 gigawatts of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems and 3 gigawatt-hours of energy storage by 2025. “This initiative goes beyond just cost savings,” Ni explained. “It seeks to create sustainable, long-term business value and revolutionize energy usage.”
The Luna 2000-215 features an intelligent thermal router that adjusts its cooling method based on the atmospheric temperature. In warmer conditions, it activates liquid cooling, while it defaults to air cooling during standard temperatures. Additionally, it includes a dehumidification mode that utilizes surplus heat from the power converter to help regulate the temperature.
In alignment with its dedication to local development, Huawei has emphasized its commitment to fostering growth since it began operations in Nigeria in 1999. The company operates warehouses, innovation centers, and support teams in Lagos and Abuja, ensuring quick response times and providing 24/7 online support.
Cruise Ni also highlighted Huawei’s contributions to talent development, job creation, and tax revenue in Nigeria. “Our presence in Nigeria is not merely about being here; we are truly committed to supporting its growth and advancement,” Ni stated. He assured that Huawei’s renewable energy solutions offer over 20 years of reliable service for both residential and industrial uses, aiding in the creation of a greener and more sustainable future for the country.
Jeremiah Ejiroghene Aminode, the Solution Manager for Huawei Nigeria’s Digital Power Business Unit, highlighted at the launch event that the all-in-one system offers major advantages. It enables businesses to make the most of renewable energy while reducing their dependence on expensive generators. He mentioned that the Luna 2215 will help companies cut down on their energy costs per kilowatt-hour, which will boost both sustainability and profits.
The event showcased Huawei’s dedication to addressing Nigeria’s energy challenges, such as increasing power costs and unreliable electricity supply. Aminode stated, “This product is essential for helping businesses save money while promoting the use of renewable energy.”
The Luna 2215 is a cutting-edge solution that uses a combination of air and liquid cooling technology for better performance. Esan Oladimeji, the Head of ICT at the Federal Fire Service, stressed the importance of the product’s safety features and the need for awareness in Nigeria’s solar energy industry. “Safety is a responsibility we all share, no matter our age or gender,” he pointed out.
Oladimeji cautioned against the fire risks associated with improper solar panel installations and low-quality equipment, highlighting that such incidents have occurred worldwide. He called on stakeholders to focus on correct installations and the use of high-quality materials to reduce these dangers.
“Fire does not discriminate; it can destroy everything. Creating a safe environment and industry is crucial for protecting lives, property, and resources,” Oladimeji stated.
