The presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has expressed concerns about his safety as the 2027 elections draw closer.
In a recent chat with media personality, Obi talked about the challenges he faces in his business, highlighting the struggles that opposition leaders in Nigeria are dealing with today.
When asked if he feels confident about being a candidate in 2027, Obi honestly replied, “Not even a candidate. I might not even be alive. I’m serious. Everything I do for a living, this government is making it hard for me. On purpose. Everything. So, there’s a chance that if they get the chance, I won’t be alive.”
Obi went on to say that while he doesn’t want to make direct accusations, his daily life is filled with targeted problems.
The former governor of Anambra pointed out that even though the authorities don’t confront him directly, their impact is clearly felt in the difficulties he faces regularly.
“They are personally attacking everyone who is in opposition,” Obi stated.
To explain his situation, Obi shared a recent incident at the airport where officials supposedly locked his car while ignoring other parked vehicles.
He said that when he introduced himself, the officer in charge dismissed him without any respect.
I noticed, ‘Pay attention to the cars of those nearby.’ They appeared to be talking to each other, as if inquiring, ‘Who is this person?’ “Obi said, ‘I get invites from people saying, ‘My son, my daughter is getting married, but please don’t come.'”
