Alex Iwobi, a Super Eagles and Fulham FC midfielder demonstrated his kindness by building his temporary shop in Canning Town (East London) to distribute free food to those in need during Christmas.
The shop, fittingly named Alexpress, provides a wide choice of seasonal goodies and supplies at no cost to individuals and their families. After shopping, they are given a complimentary turkey to commemorate the season.
The charitable effort of Iwobi, who has been on spectacular form for Fulham this season, is a monument to his kind heart and devotion to giving back to the town in which he was raised throughout his primary school years.

Iwobi expressed his passion for giving back to the community and its citizens in an interview with BBC News Africa.

Every Christmas, we like to try to make an effort at giving back. Here, we’re building a small minimart called ‘Alexpress’ to try to provide food to families that can’t go purchase food for their families for Christmas’, he said. “Why don’t I assist them in having a wonderful Christmas celebration?” He said,

He also acknowledged that his parents serve as an example to him, saying, “I’ve always seen my parents give back just by looking at how they are.” As a result of such role models, I feel that I will always do my best to give back and assist others who are less fortunate or unable to eat, whether I am in the same situation as I am now or in a different one.

Iwobi is experiencing what may be his best season since emerging from Arsenal’s youth, so in addition to fulfilling the Christmas dreams of others, he has also been fulfilling his own.
Iwobi is one goal contribution away from having his best-ever Premier League season with five goals and three assists, and half of the season is still underway.
For the Super Eagles, who advanced to the AFCON final before falling to Cote d’Ivoire, he has also been a consistent presence. Although it was disappointing not to win the AFCON, Iwobi insisted that it’s necessary to get over the setback.

“We wanted to win it, but you have to try again and not linger on it. We should be quite delighted to be second in Africa and to play in such an event,” he remarked.
Iwobi stated that his goal is to play for the Super Eagles and earn a spot in the 2026 World Cup.
“We’ve qualified for the next AFCON, and hopefully the World Cup is next, which is everyone’s big dream,” he continued. “It’s been a good 2024.”
