With a penalty kick in the second half that helped Nottingham Forest defeat Ipswich 1-0 at home, Chris Wood moved up to joint-top goal scorer in the Premier League.

In the 49th minute, the New Zealand international scored from the penalty spot, equalling Bryan Roy’s club record of 24 goals in the competition.

Wood’s eighth league goal of the season put Forest back on track and helped them climb to sixth position in the standings, tied with fourth-place Chelsea on points. Only Erling Haaland (12) and Mohamed Salah (10) have scored more.

Forest defender Ola Aina cleared a header from Cameron Burgess off the line in the 23rd minute, and Forest custodian Matz Sels made a great save from an Omari Hutchinson effort ten minutes later, giving Ipswich two chances to take the lead in the first half.
However, Forest had a fast start to the second half and were rewarded with a penalty after Jota Silva was pulled down by Sammie Szmodics. Wood promptly put the home team ahead.

With only one chance on goal in the second half, Ipswich was unable to build a comeback. They needed a brilliant stop from Arijanet Muric from Murillo’s header to avoid falling further behind.
