The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has extended the deadline for the completion of the 2025 admission process into all public universities from Friday, 31st October 2025, to Monday, 17th November 2025.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by Dr Fabian Benjamin, the Board’s Public Communication Adviser, on Sunday.
According to the statement, the extension became necessary due to “emergent and compelling circumstances” that disrupted the initial admission schedule.
JAMB explained that the decision was based on two major considerations — an appeal from the Association of Vice-Chancellors of Nigerian Universities (AVCNU) and the recent approval of new academic programmes by the National Universities Commission (NUC).
“The AVCNU had specially appealed for an extension due to disruptions caused by several factors, including a court order which directed that the status quo be maintained on the 2025/2026 admission list — an order that was only lifted on 28th October 2025,” the statement read.
The Board further noted that the NUC, on 29th October 2025, released a list of 229 newly accredited programmes across 37 universities, and admissions into those programmes were only just being scheduled.
“In light of these developments, and to ensure fairness and inclusiveness, the Board hereby extends the deadline for the completion of 2025 public university admissions to Monday, 17th November, 2025,” the statement added.
JAMB commended all institutions for their diligence and cooperation in meeting the earlier timeline and emphasised that the new date would be final.
The Board reaffirmed its commitment to a transparent, credible, and seamless admission process in line with national education goals and the autonomy of tertiary institutions.
