Tragedy has struck the family of Umar Namadi, the Governor of Jigawa State, with the sudden death of his eldest son, Abdulwahab Umar Namadi, in a terrible car accident. This heartbreaking event happened just a day after the governor lost his beloved mother, Hajiya Maryam Namadi.
According to witnesses and local reports, the accident occurred while Abdulwahab was driving back to Dutse from Kafin Hausa with friends. As he was driving, his car reportedly lost control and crashed, flipping over several times. Sadly, Abdulwahab was declared dead at the scene, while his friends were injured and are currently being treated at Dutse General Hospital.
A family member, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to protect their privacy, described this moment as a “double tragedy” that has shaken the family deeply. They mentioned, “The governor is still dealing with the heavy grief of losing his mother, and now he faces this unimaginable loss. It is an incredibly hard time for the family to handle.”
Governor Namadi, clearly heartbroken, attended his son’s funeral in Kafin Hausa. Amidst his sorrow, he called for prayers and highlighted the need for patience in such difficult times. He said, “This is Allah’s will, and we cannot question it. I ask everyone to remember us in their prayers during this tough period.”
The news of Abdulwahab’s passing has resonated profoundly in the communities of Dutse and Kafin Hausa, with many residents visiting the governor’s home to offer their condolences. Alhaji Musa Ibrahim, a family friend, described Abdulwahab as a “humble and responsible young man with a bright future.” He added, “He was loved by many and always respectful to his elders. This loss is significant not just for the family, but for all of Jigawa State.”
Following the accident, hospital officials provided updates, confirming that Abdulwahab’s friends are stable and receiving medical care, offering a small comfort amid the tragedy.
The Jigawa State Information Commissioner, Malam Sagir Musa, released a statement expressing the government’s condolences to the grieving family, saying, “We share in the sorrow of His Excellency and his family during this painful time. This is truly a sad moment for all of us in Jigawa State. May Allah grant the deceased peace in the afterlife.”
Funeral prayers for Abdulwahab took place at the Kafin Hausa Central Mosque, attended by many top government officials, traditional leaders, and community members who came together to pay their respects and support Governor Namadi and his family during this tragic time.
