Notable Nigerian businessman and philanthropist, Aminu Dantata, has passed away at the age of 94.

Dantata, a renowned figure in Nigeria’s business landscape, was widely respected for his contributions to commerce and community development.

He was instrumental in founding numerous enterprises that shaped the economic landscape of Kano and the entire northern Nigeria.
Meanwhile, chairman of the Northern Governors Forum, NSGF Chairman, Governor Inuwa Yahaya, has said Dantata’s death marked end of a visionary era even as he hailed the industrialist’s impact on Northern Nigeria and beyond.

In a condolence message on behalf of his colleagues, Alhaji Yahaya,
described the demise of the elder statesman as a monumental national loss and the end of a remarkable era in Nigeria’s private sector history.

“It is with profound sorrow and a deep sense of national loss that I, on behalf of the Government and people of Gombe State as well as the Northern States Governors’ Forum, mourn the passing of elder statesman and one of Africa’s most accomplished businessmen and philanthropists, Alhaji Aminu Alhassan Dantata,” he stated.

The Forum recalled Dantata’s status as one of Africa’s wealthiest and most respected private sector leaders, noting that his legacy was built on visionary enterprise, humility, generosity, and integrity.

“His demise marks the end of a remarkable era, an era defined by visionary enterprise, uncommon generosity, rare humility and integrity,” the NSGF Chairman said.

He described the late businessman as a towering figure in Nigeria’s economic history, adding that he belonged to a rare class of visionary leaders who were deeply committed to enterprise, development and uplifting humanity.

He also acknowledged the late Dantata’s enduring contributions to the socio-economic transformation of Northern Nigeria and the country at large, adding, “We have indeed lost a pillar of support, a source of wisdom, and a true elder statesman.”

The governors extended their heartfelt condolences to the Dantata family, the government and people of Kano State, and the entire nation.

He prayed for the soul of the deceased, asking Almighty Allah (SWT) to forgive his shortcomings and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus.
