Kyari Reiterates Commitment To Accountability, Backs EFCC

The immediate past Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Mele Kyari, has reiterated his commitment to transparency and the fight against corruption, declaring that Nigeria can only progress when every citizen plays their part with courage and integrity.

Kyari made the remarks in Abuja on Wednesday after honouring an invitation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The former NNPCL boss, who arrived at the Commission’s headquarters around 1:00 p.m. and left shortly after 9:00 p.m., described his appearance as a demonstration of his personal belief in due process and respect for institutions of accountability.

“I have done my part; the EFCC must do theirs.
When each of us do our duty—without fear or favour, with honour, respect, and commitment—Nigeria moves forward,” Kyari told newsmen.

He said that his decision to honour the EFCC’s invitation underscored his conviction that leaders must lead by example, stressing that accountability remains central to the nation’s growth.

Kyari, who led the NNPCL through a period of sweeping reforms, said he was proud of his service to the country and maintained that Nigerians must collectively strengthen public institutions if the nation is to achieve sustainable progress.
