Liverpool increased their Premier League lead to four points with a 6-3 victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, led by doubles from Luis Díaz and Mohamed Salah.
Díaz scored with a diving header on Trent Alexander-Arnold’s cross, and Alexis MacAllister doubled Liverpool’s lead with a close-range header.

Dejan Kulusevski dispossessed Mac Allister in midfield, giving the home team a clear path back into the match, and James Maddison responded four minutes before halftime.
But Dominik Szoboszlai gave Spurs a mountain to climb by scoring in first-half added time to give the Reds a two-goal advantage again.

With his 14th and 15th league goals of the season, Salah scored twice in seven minutes in the second half to make it 5-1 and send some Spurs supporters packing. With his two goals, he passed Liverpool legend Billy Liddell on the team’s all-time scoring list.
The now-fourth most prolific scorer for Liverpool stated, “I’m happy and proud, I’ll just keep working hard,”

Dominic Solanke gave Spurs hope of an unexpected comeback with a goal in the 83rd minute after Kulusevski’s volley, and two minutes later, Díaz made it 6-3 to end an intense match that could have had even more goals.
“As a team, we need to improve defensively, but we were pretty good up front,” Salah told Sky Sports. “It’s quite good the result, and hopefully we just keep going.”
With 39 points from 16 games, Liverpool is four points ahead of Chelsea, who are in second position but have played one more game. At 23 points from 17 games, Spurs are still in 11th place.

Arne Slot’s squad was always on the attack, and Salah should have given them the lead after three minutes after Fraser Forster, the Spurs goalkeeper who made two costly mistakes in midweek, passed to him in the box but Salah missed the mark.
The visitors rightfully took the lead in the 23rd minute when Díaz headed home at full stretch, but Salah then hit the bar after outpacing three defenders with some deft footwork.
After Andy Robertson’s cross to Szoboszlai rebounded well for Mac Allister, who nodded past the charging Forster, a second seemed certain and arrived in the 36th minute.

But Spurs’ opening goal, which came out of nowhere and should have given them a chance to pull themselves back into it, was Mac Allister’s fault.
However, after a sweeping play, Szoboszlai nutmegged Forster after sprinting onto Salah’s through ball to make it 3-1.

Szoboszlai gave Mohammed Salah the chance to tap in from close range by providing, in the 54th minute, Salah then added another shortly after.
Forster was forced into a good save to deny Alexander-Arnold, while Kulusevski and Dominic Solanke goal sparked the possibility of an extraordinary comeback, Liverpool had no intention of relaxing.
To end a breathtaking adventure, Díaz delivered a clinical finish past Forster with five minutes of normal time left, falling two goals short of equalling a Premier League record.
