Pep Guardiola has stated that his three January acquisitions would be immediately included in Manchester City’s squad for their Premier League matchup with Chelsea.
Omar Marmoush, Abdukodir Khusanov, and Vitor Reis have arrived at the Etihad Stadium following City’s January transfer window expenditure of over €142 million ($148.9 million) in a single week.
Guardiola has stated that all three will play in Saturday’s match against Chelsea at the Etihad Stadium, mostly due to the fact that he is still coping with several injuries to important players.
“Yeah [they will be in the squad], we don’t have players,” answered Guardiola. “We traveled [back from Paris], so we didn’t train much. They didn’t meet once.
“Omar trained on Thursday. “Some, but not all of them. “Vitor is young and full of personality. Khusanov has already adjusted in, and in the French league, he has dealt with swift players. I believe Omar will adjust fast based on his initial training session.
Marmoush is the most notable of City’s three new signings, having joined from Eintracht Frankfurt in a deal for up to €75 million ($78 million).
The 25-year-old had a fantastic start to the season in Germany, scoring 15 goals in 17 Bundesliga outings.
“The reason why City signed Marmoush was the potential,” Guardiola stated. “Despite the team’s outstanding quality, we didn’t accomplish much in the transfer market last season. We anticipate two or three more this summer.
“The club believed he was for the future for many years. In the latter third, he is a talented player.
Against Chelsea, City will be without Rúben Dias. In Wednesday’s 4-2 loss to Paris Saint-Germain, he was substituted off at halftime after recuperating from an injury in the 6-0 victory over Ipswich.
Jeremy Doku will not be present either.
