Omar Marmoush, a forward for Eintracht Frankfurt, has officially joined Manchester City, the team confirmed Thursday.
It is said that the bonus payments included in the contract total €5 million. The Egypt international transferred to the Etihad Stadium for a cost of €70 million ($73 million) plus add-ons.
Marmoush might play his first game for City against Chelsea on Saturday after agreeing to a four-and-a-half-year contract on Wednesday.
With this deal, City will have spent €145 million in the January window with add-ons.
“This is a day I will never forget,” Marmoush explained.
“Joining Manchester City, one of the world’s top teams, is an incredible experience. My family and I are thrilled to be in Manchester, and we are all quite proud.
“Pep, his coaching team, and the world-class facilities here provide everything players need to improve. That was really appealing to me when I had the opportunity to come here.
“And I cannot deny that I want to win trophies. City has been the most successful club in England for many years, so I know I’m joining a winning environment and culture.I want to learn from the coaching and my colleagues, and I want to be an important player of this successful team.”
Marmoush joins City as the club’s third signing of the January window, following Abdukodir Khusanov from Lens and Vitor Reis from Palmeiras.
Reis and Khusanov both started training on Tuesday and might be included in the team for the match against Chelsea.
Last week, City also agreed to a new nine-and-a-half-year contract with forward Haaland.
The 25-year-old Marmoush comes in having already scored 20 goals for Frankfurt this season. He’ll be wearing City’s number seven shirt.
Txiki Begiristain, the City director of football, stated, “I’m thrilled he’s joining us. Omar is an accomplished and exciting forward.”
“He has had an incredible season, and each time we have seen him, he has had an impact on games.”
He possesses all the qualities that a top-tier attacker needs. He is incredibly quick and smart, and he excels in front of goal. He is also a very important asset considering that he can play several positions.
