At least many people have been confirmed dead, and four others were injured after a violent clash between local villagers and herders in Jigawa State, Nigeria. The trouble began in a place called Gululu village when some people broke into a shop and stole items like hibiscus and other supplies. The villagers followed the thieves’ tracks to a nearby settlement where the herders lived.

Things escalated when the herders allegedly attacked the villagers with bows and arrows, causing serious injuries to four individuals. In retaliation, the villagers fought back and set several homes in the herders’ settlement on fire.

Police from nearby areas were called in to help restore order. Upon arriving, they discovered nine bodies and took them to local hospitals, where medical staff confirmed the deaths.

The Commissioner of Police in Jigawa, AT Abdullahi, visited the scene along with other officials, including the speaker of the state assembly and community leaders. They urged everyone to remain calm and to avoid further violence. The police are increasing patrols in the area to prevent more clashes and are currently investigating the incidents to hold those responsible accountable.
