Missing Lagos banker’s body found in morgue with machete cuts

Days after a Lagos banker Osemudiamen Idemudia was reported missing by his family, his remains was at a morgue in the Yaba region of the state. Reports indicate that Idemudia, who was employed in the Point-of-Sale department of a commercial bank in Ikota, was last seen on the evening of May 9 in the CMS area. A family member, who identified himself as Segun, informed our correspondent on Wednesday that the body was found on Sunday during an urgent search through various hospitals and morgues in the area. The 26-year-old banker was discovered found deep machete wounds on his head, face, and legs.

He stated that the discovery raised questions regarding the possibility of murder

“We discovered Osemudiamen’s body. It was a murder. We found it on Sunday in a morgue at Yaba, and it had machete wounds on his head, face, and legs. I’m really heartbroken.”

Segun also said it was the police who transported the body to the morgue. He sought to obtain further details regarding the circumstances of the body’s discovery, but the staff were unable to provide any information about the officers that were involved.

“The morgue staff said the police brought the body in, but when we asked where it came from, they had no answers. They didn’t know the identities of the officers who delivered the body, which made things even more confusing.”

He mentioned that the family buried the remains on Tuesday.

Julius, the father of the deceased banker, recounted the events of the day his son went missing. He said he left the office with a coworker for a meeting with a senior bank official at the headquarters in CMS, Lagos Island.

Unfortunately, upon their arrival at CMS, the official decided to cancel the meeting.

The two colleagues decided to go home after that. He added that after they parted ways, Osemudiamen was never seen nor heard from again.

Osemudiamen has been missing since Friday, May 9. He resumed at his office in Ikota that morning and was supposed to go to the head office with a coworker after work for a meeting with a senior staff member. But then, the official called and said he couldn’t meet them until Monday. When they finally got to CMS, they went their separate ways.

Osemudiamen usually took a bus to Iyana Ipaja and then another bus to Igando. But when it got late and we hadn’t heard from him, we started to worry. After 24 hours without any news, we alerted the authorities. We haven’t heard from him since, and we’re really worried about him. This isn’t like him at all, and we just want to make sure he’s safe. Julius mentioned that they reported the situation to the Igando Police Station, which is near where Osemudiamen lived. The state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, couldn’t be reached because he didn’t answer his phone, and he hasn’t replied to a text message we sent him either.
