Mohamed Salah has stated that he has yet to receive a formal contract offer from Liverpool, and that he is “more out than in” on whether he will stay with the club next season.
With a stellar individual campaign, Salah, whose contract is set to expire next summer, has scored 12 goals across all competitions this season, including a brace in Liverpool’s 3-2 comeback victory over Southampton on Sunday.
Speaking following the victory at St. Mary’s, Salah acknowledged that he was “disappointed” that the team had not yet publicly presented a new deal.
“I haven’t received any offers to stay in the club yet, and it’s almost December,” Salah told reporters, “so I’m probably more out than in.”
“I’ve been a member of the club for a long time, as you are aware. No club like this exists. But ultimately, I have no control over it. As I previously stated, it is December and I have yet to receive any information regarding my future plans.
“I adore the fans.” Fans adore me. Finally, it is not up to me or the supporters. Let’s wait and see. Of course [no offer is disappointing], yes.
Liverpool signed Mohamed Salah in 2017. I am concentrating on the season and attempting to win the Premier League and, ideally, the Champions League since I will not be retiring anytime soon. Despite my disappointment, we shall see.
According to an ESPN source, conversations between Salah’s representatives and Liverpool are ongoing and positive, despite the fact that his contract negotiations are expected to be tough and lengthy.
Salah signed his final Liverpool contract, making him the club’s highest earning, in June 2022. As it stands, he will be allowed to engage with clubs outside of England about a free transfer next summer, when the winter market starts on January 1.
Earlier, the 32-year-old was connected to a move to the Saudi Pro League, but he quickly put an end to the rumours on Sunday afternoon.
The current contracts of three Liverpool players, including Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and Trent Alexander-Arnold, the team’s captain, are set to expire at the end of the current campaign.
