Neymar and Saudi team Al Hilal agree to terminate contract

Neymar has left Al Hilal by mutual consent, the Saudi Pro League winners announced, following a disappointing spell with the club for Brazil’s all-time leading scorer.
The 32-year-old suffered a knee injury in Brazil’s World Cup qualifier against Uruguay in October 2023 and has battled to return to his best.

The Saudi team said on X early on Tuesday morning, “Al Hilal and Neymar Jr. have agreed to terminate the player’s contract by mutual consent.”
Since joining Al Hilal from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in August 2023 for an estimated 90 million euros ($98 million), Neymar has only appeared in seven games.

After departing in 2013 to join Barcelona, Neymar, who has scored 79 goals for the national team, is set to rejoin his hometown club, Santos, according to Brazilian media.
After joining PSG from Barcelona in August 2017, Neymar still maintains the record for the highest football transfer fee in history, which is 222 million euros ($232 million).
