Former Governor of Edo State, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, has Immensely rated Governor Monday Okpebholo highly for his remarkable first month in office, declaring that he has set a groundbreaking precedent in the state’s governance. Oshiomhole made this clear during a press interaction at his residence in Iyamho, Estako West local government area of Edo State. He expressed his strong approval of Governor Okpebholo’s decisive approach to governance, emphasizing that the people of Edo are finally witnessing effective, results-driven leadership after eight years of the previous administration under Godwin Obaseki. “For the first time in Edo’s history, we have a governor who began making vital appointments from his very first day in office. Not a single day, minute, or second has been wasted. Within just a few days, he has made several impactful decisions,” Oshiomhole stated emphatically. He pointed out that everyone in Edo has observed how the Governor hit the ground running from day one, swiftly appointing individuals to critical positions, ensuring that essential sectors like Justice, Health, and the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) are fully staffed. “Basic education is a priority for him, and there’s no room for delay.” Furthermore, Oshiomhole applauded Governor Okpebholo’s commitment to revamping infrastructural development, noting that the positive effects of his administration are already evident. Contractors have returned to sites, and critical issues are being addressed to bring immediate relief to the citizens. “The people are aware that a new sheriff is in town. He is eliminating the detrimental practices of the past and putting an end to the financial mismanagement that plagued Edo. It’s no secret that local government councils were siphoning significant funds to his predecessor (Obaseki), but Governor Okpebholo has made it clear: ‘No more. We will use these resources to advance our communities.
“He has made many significant decisions, and as I keep saying, ‘minimum words, maximal wisdom’. After eight years of bluster and MOUs, people are ready for action. Things they can see and feel. “He’s already working on visible projects.” I believe he has done exceptionally well. He brings those he works with closer. He has collective decision-making processes, not because he cannot live without them, but because he feels that two good heads are better than one. I believe the people are pleased, and I am proud of him. I receive that from the outside. I feel confident that we are in capable hands. “I am pleased to inform the people of Edo that Edo is once again in the capable hands of Senator Monday Okpebholo,” Oshiomhole stated.
In his speech, Governor Okpebholo promised the state’s citizens more positive things in 2025.
The governor promised that important economic sectors would receive the necessary boosts in the upcoming year thanks to a new budget and the appointment of trustworthy individuals.
In just a few hours after taking office, Okpebholo made headlines for the prompt selection of his cabinet members, the inauguration of board members, and the kicking off of significant road projects.
