Olubadan Distributes Ramadan, Lenten Food, Cash To 5,000 Residents

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, distributed food packages for Ramadan and Lent to over 5,000 residents of the historic town on Saturday.

The beneficiaries received various food items along with financial assistance. The food provisions included essential staples such as rice, beans, semovita, garri, maize, and noodles. Additionally, those facing economic hardships received extra cash gifts to support their needs during this time.

Speaking during the distribution exercise, the king expressed that this initiative represents his commitment to supporting the community and helping the people of Ibadanland during these significant religious periods.

Olori Barrister Rashidat Ladoja spoke on behalf of the king, sharing that this effort is not new; they have been running similar charitable programs for the last twenty years. She explained that this year’s event is particularly special because it is the first time they are doing it since Oba Ladoja became the Olubadan.

She also mentioned that the outreach aligns with the king’s longstanding tradition of helping those in need throughout the city. “This is similar to our previous efforts, but this year we have more people to assist,” she added.

The food distribution for Ramadan and Lent gathered people from different communities in Ibadanland, uniting Muslims observing Ramadan and Christians celebrating Lent.

Community leaders and those who received help from a recent event expressed their gratitude for the monarch’s ongoing commitment to this program over the years.

Many beneficiaries shared that the food and financial support would greatly benefit their families, especially now when many households are struggling with rising food costs.

This distribution event was part of the Olubadan’s larger efforts to help those in need and strengthen connections within the community of Ibadanland.

The event also highlighted the importance of unity among different faiths, as both Muslims and Christians received support from the same initiative.

Participants described the program as a clear example of the monarch’s dedication to the well-being and progress of his community.

Organizers announced that this distribution effort would keep going to assist vulnerable members of society while encouraging kindness and generosity among community members.

“Last year, we helped around 5,000 people. This year, we’ve already surpassed that number, and we’re thankful that everything has gone smoothly without any issues,” they said.

“Oba Ladoja is a leader who cares deeply for his people, having served as a Senator, a former governor, and now as the Olubadan of Ibadanland.”

“During this special time of Ramadan and Lent, both the Quran and the Bible emphasize the importance of giving, so we are doing our part, and many Nigerians are as well,” the organizers added.
