A week after two significant fires affected different areas in Lagos, officials reported another fire at a one-storey building in the Lekki neighborhood. Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, a leader at the Lagos State Emergency Management Authority (LASEMA), provided updates about this latest outbreak.

The emergency began when a call came in around 12:57 p.m. from No. 2A, Abike Sulaiman Street in Lekki Phase 1. LASEMA acted quickly and sent their team from the Lekki Base to handle the situation.

When they arrived, the building was completely covered in flames. Thankfully, Dr. Oke-Osanyintolu confirmed that no one was hurt or killed in this incident. He praised the quick response of LASEMA and other emergency workers, noting that their swift actions helped stop the fire from spreading to nearby buildings.

The fire was contained effectively, which limited the damage to surrounding properties. Dr. Oke-Osanyintolu stated that the fire was completely put out, and the team worked to cool down the area to ensure there were no lingering hotspots that could flare up again.

This recent incident follows two other fires earlier in the week. On Wednesday, a fire caused considerable damage to a generator house at the Federal Institute of Industrial Research in Oshodi. The next day, another fire occurred at a lumber market on Pipeline Street in Ikotun, leading to significant financial losses. These ongoing incidents highlight the urgent need for better fire safety practices and increased awareness in the community.
