On Thursday, six men, among them the brother of France international Paul Pogba were found guilty of extortion attempts against the football player and given prison sentences ranging from three to eight years, according to French media.
When Paul Pogba claimed in 2022 that he was the target of threats and extortion attempts from an organised gang, his brother Mathias was officially under investigation.

The 31-year-old Paul Pogba informed the Paris prosecutor’s office that he had paid €100,000 ($104,000) to his childhood friends in March 2022 after they had extorted him.
Mathias was found guilty of organised extortion and attempted extortion and was sentenced to three years in jail, two of which are suspended. He also received a €20,000 fine.

Mamadou M (five years, 12 months suspended), Boubacar C (four years, two suspended), Machikour K (four years, three suspended), Roushdane K (eight years), and Adama C (five years) are the others.
Paul Pogba’s agents have been contacted by Reuters for comment.
After his contract with Juventus was mutually terminated, the 2018 World Cup winner is currently without a club. He can resume playing competitive football in March after his four-year sentence for using a forbidden substance was lowered to 18 months.
